Paint manufacturer Crown Paints has appointed BJL to handle its consumer PR.

The Manchester agency has been briefed, following a competitive pitch, consolidation all of Crown Paint’s consumer marketing, and will now handle consumer PR, social media and advertising for the Crown, Sandtex exterior paints and Sadolin wood protection products.

BJL will be expected to drive consideration and generate awareness through media relations, social media and brand initiatives.

A press launch will be held later this year, alongside a trends panel selection and programme activity, leading to the unveiling of the 2012 Colour Influences.

Nicky Unsworth, managing director of BJL, commented: “We are delighted to be extending our remit with Crown Paints as it’s a fantastic company with a great team behind it. This strategic move will see the company benefit from our joined up thinking and enable the brand and PR teams to work hand in glove moving forward. This is an excellent addition to our growing consumer PR offer and the team is relishing the challenge ahead.”

Rebecca Hardy, group account director will lead the account, taking over the contract from Frank PR following a handover period.

BJL is currently completing work on a soon-to-be released advertising campaign for Crown, due in the coming weeks.
