British Red Cross shows Harry Potter fans the importance of first-aid

The British Red Cross has launched a new hard-hitting cinema ad showing how simple first-aid techniques can save a young person's life.

Created by Brand New School, the split-screen ad shows a girl lying unconscious while nobody does anything to help and another whose life is saved by her friends applying basic first-aid training.

The awareness campaign is aimed at 11-16 year-olds and will run with Harry Potter nationwide from Friday.

"It shows how first aid can be the difference between life and death and offers teens the chance to learn life-saving skills," said Fiona Smith from British Red Cross.

"The 11-16 age-group is a particular target for us and as so many of them will be going to see Harry Potter over the next few weeks we thought it was the perfect opportunity.”

Brand New School created the concept and handled editing and post-production. The ad was directed by Robert Bisi.
