McCann Erickson Manchester has entered into consultation over making two roles within its digital department redundant.

The agency has admitted that two roles will be lost at its city centre digital division.

Sue Little, chief executive of McCann Manchester, said: “We’ve entered into consultation with two people about their roles at Metro, our digital innovation hub. Our integrated digital offering is evolving and we need to make sure that we have the right shape and structure to meet the demands of our clients. As this consultation process is ongoing, it would be inappropriate and unfair on the individuals involved to comment any further.”

Bit earlier than usual this year. Isn't the annual cull around November just in time for Christmas?

Is this really a suitable news story for The Drum? Lets not lose sight that there are two more people involved here. Poor sods. And couldn't Little have simply issued a "no comment" explaining that how the business is run is of no interest to the wider gawping industry!

Maximum profit is only attained by sacking your staff at the end of each project, McCann are by far the best at this, you all know it but you keep coming back for more! It's because you all want the best agency on your CV. Interviewing will start again soon - form the usual queue.

"Metro, our digital innovation hub." - Yes I think we all agree it's very innovative. So innovative that nobody understands it or uses it!

"Our integrated digital offering is evolving and we need to make sure that we have the right shape and structure to meet the demands of our clients." - are you going to evolve it into the ACTUALLY correct shape this time?... ...and what clients?
