It has been reported that VisitBritain is pulling a video advertising campaign which should air overseas due to the riots which have been taking place across the UK.
The advert, which has already been running overseas for weeks, includes edited footage from the films made by VisitBritain’s brand ambassadors.
Head of marketing Joss Croft told Marketing Week that it was not appropriate to run the campaign with the news on bbc.com showing images of rioting and looting taking place in the UK.
He added that the decision was being reviews on an hourly basis, and that since it was a digital campaign, it could be switched back on easily with no cost implication.
London tourism board, London & Partners, told the Drum that it thought London would ‘recover quickly’ following the riots.
