Martha Rafferty, daughter of the late musician Gerry Rafferty, has announced plans to launch a website to celebrate the legacy of her father’s music.

In an interview with the Daily Record, Martha Rafferty said that she had made the decision after a surge of interest on the internet following her father’s death.

Rafferty, who was best-known for his track 1978 hit “Baker Street”, died on January 4th this year at his daughter’s home in Gloucester following a battle with alcoholism.

"What surprised me most was the reaction on the internet,” Martha Rafferty told the Daily Record.

“Baker Street had two million hits in the two days after his death and he was the third most talked about subject on Twitter.”

The new site will launch next month to coincide with EMI Records’ release of a remastered edition of Rafferty's classic City To City album, which topped the charts in Britain and America in 1978, selling 5.5million copies.
