Douglas Alexander, co-founder and managing director of Navyblue has confirmed his departure from the agency as a result of a ‘difference of opinion’ over its direction.
In a statement to The Drum, after speculation circulated over his future at Navyblue earlier this week, Alexander said: “After 17 years with Navyblue I have tendered my resignation and will no longer be involved with the business. It has been apparent for some time that there was a difference of opinion, between myself and the board as to the future direction and strategy for the company. I have therefore decided the time has come to pursue a new path within the creative sector and go back to my roots. The industry is as dynamic and vibrant as ever and I am looking forward to the new opportunities ahead.”
It was also reported this week that Alexander had chosen to stand down from the position of newly established organisation Creative Edinburgh, ahead of its first day in operation on Monday 5 September.
No further word on the future operations of the agency were forthcoming, although it is understood that Navyblue had suspended Alexander and it is thought that legal action over the ownership of the company, also owned by co-directors Geoff Nicol and Bernie Shaw Binns, is underway.

End of an era. Worked for Doug and had a few run-ins but all the best to him in the future.
