Internet providers Sky, Talk Talk, Virgin and BT are to offer customers the option of blocking adult content when they subscribe.

The four providers are to offer the service in a bid to protect children from online porn and other explicit material.

The option will be introduced as part of Government measures set to be outlined later today by Prime Minister David Cameron when he meets with charity Mothers Union, which released a report warning that childhood was being harmed by sexual imagery being openly available.

A website, called Parent Point, will also be introduced, according to The Guardian, which will allow parents to complain about TV programmes, adverts, products and services, which are deemed to be inappropriate for child viewing.
