Aberdeen-based regional daily, the Press and Journal has promoted Calum Ross to the post of political editor, based at Westminster.
Ross replaces David Perry who has retired after 40 years in journalism.
Ross was previously the Aberdeen-based local government specialist on the P&J which he joined three years ago from the Inverness Courier weekly newspaper.
His father David is the long-serving Highlands correspondent of The Herald, based in Inverness.
Ross’s role on the P&J in Aberdeen has been taken over by David McKay.
Perry began his career at the Edinburgh Evening News, becoming the paper's London correspondent.
He began reporting from Westminster for a number of titles owned by the then Thomson Regional Newspapers, whose portfolio of publications included the Press and Journal - ultimately becoming group chief political correspondent. He has been reporting specifically for the Press and Journal for close on 20 years.
Meantime the P&J’s farming editor, Joe Watson, is back at his desk after being out of action for several weeks following a car accident.
