Jo Brand, Joanna Scanlan and Peter Capaldi star in Macmillan Cancer Support’s ‘Move More’ campaign, aiming to ease those with cancer into physical exercise.
Voiced by Capaldi, the 54-second film sees Brand running around South London, in what looks like marathon training. She eventually runs into a kitchen with Scanlan and produces a pint of milk, revealing that she had just popped down to the corner shop.
Marc Silverside, head of communications at Macmillan Cancer Support, said:
“We wanted to create a film that through comedy would inspire people living with cancer, who may have never exercised regularly, to move a little more.
“The film brings to life a key campaign message that doing ‘enough’ physical activity needn’t be running a marathon, a brisk walk or jog to the corner shop can help.
“Jo Brand and Joanna Scanlan were perfect for the film as at first glance people assume they do not take part in any physical activity, yet they are both active in their spare time and love swimming. Peter Capaldi agreeing to join them was the icing on the cake.
“We believe Jo Brand will be a real inspiration to people living with cancer, who might not have realised just what they’re capable of.”
The concept and script were developed by brand and digital consultancy Rufus Leonard.
Helen Jones, senior copywriter at Rufus Leonard, said: “We wanted to create something light-hearted and fun that would encourage viewers to pass the message on, to help Macmillan raise its publicity. We decided to use celebrities to target people who are not already active, particularly in the over-50 age group.”
