MPs are now being allowed to Tweet in the House of Commons during debates following a vote.

MPs voted to defeat an amendment that would have been the use of the social network, only allowing them to receive and send ‘urgent emails’ by 206 votes to 63.

Earlier this year, MPs were told they were not allowed to use Twitter inside the chamber, but a motion was proposed last week by the Commons Procedure Committee that proposed that MPs be formally permitted to use electronic devices that were silent.
