McCanns takes Fresh pop at rivals BJL and Big

McCann's cheeky digMcCann's cheeky dig

McCann Birmingham is taunting rival ad agencies BJL and Big about its success at the Fresh Awards.

The gloating creative team has placed an ad in The Drum magazine showing that it picked up more Gold gongs than its competitors.

A bar graph depicts McCann's gold haul towering above the awards taken home by BJL and Big.

McCann's executive creative director Vince McSweeney said: “We made a statement on the night by picking up the most gold awards. We felt it was only necessary to make a statement afterwards too.”

It is not the first time McCann Birmingham has attempted to ruffle some feathers with a cheeky press ad.

In March McSweeney announced his arrival at the agency by publishing a list of all the creatives he wanted to hire to his new team.

They included staff at Dinosaur, True North, BJL and TBWA among a host of others.

Rave's Jamie Buckingham and creative team Tim Jarvis and Barrie Robinson were signed up by McCanns on the back of 'The List' being published.
