The iPhone 4 remains the top device in Europe for mobile page impressions according to figures released by mobile ad network InMobi.
Of the 15.5bn advertising impressions on its network from July to September 2011, Apple's device enjoyed a 7.2% share compared with 4.9% for the Samsung GT-i9000 and 3.1% for the HTC Desire S.
But it is the Android operating system that leads the way with 33% of ad impressions on the network to Apple iOS's 14.9%.
Surag Patel, director, global research at InMobi, said: "Android’s OS growth will face increased competition following Apple’s rollout of iOS5 and the iPhone 4S this month.
"However, the numbers certainly indicate that Android’s lead will be tough to catch on a global scale, even if Apple makes gains in Europe."
