Real Madrid has launched a Facebook app, Legends Club, to promote and sell its Christmas music release, Real Madrid Legends.
Designed by digital agency, Naked Penguin Boy, working with Australian company ZOVA, Legends Club allows the 21 million Real Madrid Facebook fans to purchase the club's album without needing to leave the social media site.
The app has clocked up over 10,000 fans and 19,000 users in 4.5 days. But P.J. Jones, client partner at Naked Penguin Boy, believes Legends Club gives the potential for greater sales growth with a wider range of products.
“It is essentially a shop built into Facebook,” explained Jones. “Real Madrid have chosen to use the store purely for the purposes of selling their digital music album, though the store could be used to sell anything.”
Jones continued: “This functionality is fairly new to Facebook yet already the likes of ASOS, Easyjet and Lady Gaga are taking advantage of the opportunity to bring tickets, clothing, music and memberships to the place where the fans already are.”
Real Madrid Facebook fans are currently able to purchase a single music track, wallpaper and a PDF from the Legends Club store using Facebook Credits. The full album will be available to purchase from 7 December.
