Newsquest Herald & Evening Times sales boss Sean Duffy is to leave the publisher to become commercial director of First Rail.

It is understood that Duffy, who joined the Glasgow operation of Newsquest in September 2010, is expected to take up his new role early next year, where, he will oversee all advertising and sales contracts throughout First Rail.

He has previously held senior commercial roles with News International Scotland and CBS Outdoor Scotland.

First Group declined to comment while Duffy could not be reached to discuss the appointment at this time.

Tim Blott, managing director for Newsquest Herald & Evening Times, said of Duffy’s departure: “I enjoyed working with him and I wish him and his family all the best in the future.”

Earlier today The Drum announced that sales manager Liz Hamilton would also leave Newsquest Herald & Times to join the magazine as its business development director.
