The Leith Agency’s record label Leith Records is to team up with Unique Events to host an unsigned band competition in which unsigned acts will compete in a ‘busk off’, where the winner will perform on stage at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay party, supporting Primal Scream.

The ‘Hog the Street’ competition will offer acts the change to enter online, with successful applications being asked to play on Princes Street in Edinburgh. The band that raises the most money in their guitar case will be the winner.

Artists wishing to enter should submit a 140-character pitch as to why they should be allowed to play, as well as a video and a picture. 10 acts will be chosen to play during the ‘Busk-off Weekend’ on Princess Street, with all money raised going to local charities.

Entries are currently being accepted online until 25 November, with the Busk Off weekend taking place over 3 & 4 December.
