The Western Isles Council has tasked Rippleffect with developed a website for its Hebridean Archives.

The archive project, Tasglann nan Eilean Siar, began in June 2010 with the aim of preserving and making accessible archive collections about the cultural heritage and social history of the outer Hebrides.

Rippleffect has begun to develop a website that will act as the public face of the project, allowing those interested to find out more about the archives, including a collections database, image galleries, maps and online exhibitions.

A content management system will also be developed that will allow project staff to update the site regularly.

Interactive elements, including maps, searchable archive catalogue and image galleries will also be added as part of the second stage of the process, with a project logo having already been designed to feature on the site.

The contract for the development, which was appointed following a tender process, was apparently worth around £28,000.
