Anonymous spin-off group AntiSec has used credit card information illegally obtained during its recent attack on global business intelligence service Stratfor's website to make unauthorised donations to a number of charities worldwide including the Red Cross.

According to The Atlantic Wire, AntiSec broke into one of Stratfor's customer databases at the e-commerce service Ubercart last week and stole around 200 gigabytes worth of data, including an estimated 30,000 credit card numbers which they then used to fraudulently donate varying amounts of money to a selection of charities.

Stratfor's website is currently down, but in a statement on its Facebook page, the company stated:

"On December 24th an unauthorized party disclosed personally identifiable information and related credit card data of some of our members. We have reason to believe that your personal and credit card data could have been included in the information that was illegally obtained and disclosed."
