A British comedy sketch, popular in Germany, has been adapted into a YouTube hit featuring German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
The ‘Dinner for One’ video, originally a sketch from 1963 that featured comedienne May Warden, is traditionally broadcast in Germany on New Year’s Eve, reports the BBC, but has been adapted online for German broadcaster ARD to include the faces of the two leaders.
The sketch saw Warden play a rich lady who’s butler impersonates her dead friends on her birthday, as she has outlived them all.
The YouTube version, entitled "The 90th euro rescue summit or euros for no-one", features Merkel’s guest‘s, with Sakozy taking the place of the butler who impersonates Greek prime minister George Papandreou, Spain’s prime minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and Britain’s Prime Minister, David Cameron.
In the last week the video has received over 500,000 views online.
