Augmented reality platform Aurasma, developed by Autonomy, has passed the 3 million downloads mark in just over six months.

The app, which was launched in June 2011 across iPhone, iPad and Android, features image recognition technology and augmented reality to allow companies to create, discover and share digital content embedded in everyday objects, products and physical places.

Over 1,500 brand partners have used the technology since its launch.

Martina King, managing director of Aurasma, said: "We are delighted that the high levels of excitement we are seeing on the CES show floor are translating into record numbers of downloads of Aurasma. In just eight months since we launched, the app has now been downloaded 3 million times and the technology adopted by over 1,500 brands in 57 countries around the world - testament to the power of Aurasma to change the way we see and interact with information."
