Scots-born chat show host, Craig Ferguson, is being tipped to become one of the highest-paid men on US television.

The Scottish Daily Mail reports that Ferguson, who already earns more than £8million a year, could be involved in a ‘double the money’ multi-million pound deal.

Forty-nine-year -old Ferguson, from Cumbernauld, is in talks to sign a new two-year deal with major network CBS for whom he has hosted The Late Late Show since 2005.

The Scottish Daily Mail quotes the New York Times as saying: “The issue surrounding Mr Ferguson is whether he will come to terms to continue in the 12.35am time slot.

“He does have a clause in his contract that would guarantee him the 11.35pm show if Mr [David] Letterman chose to step down.”

The Scottish Daily Mail adds that the network may have to almost double his present salary to retain Ferguson, who has forged a successful career as actor, producer, writer and film star.”
