Tea brands Tetley, Twinings and Typhoo are among some of the big names behind a social media campaign which aims to reverse plummeting sales of teapots.

The campaign, initiatied by Debenhams, has seen Tetley has put up a prize of a Tea Folk tea cosy to one person who tweets using the hashtag #savetheteapot. Twinings meanwhile is offering a prize of a free teapot to one lucky Twitter follower who retweets its message using the hashtag and Typhoo has goody bags to be won for following and retweeting its message.

Debenhams own campaign to save the teapot with features the line; 'Campaign for Civilised Tea Drinking' which coincides with the launch of its 'non-spill' teapot.
