Channel 4 has faced flak online for its billboard ad, promoting the new season of Big Fat Gypsy wedding.

The ad read 'Bigger. Fatter. Gyspier' and had a picture of two children, one in the foreground and another in the background.

In response to a Twitter comment about the ad, Channel 4 said ‘Everyone featured in the posters has seen them and is happy with them. Parental consent was given for the poster campaign’.

A blog post by Ross McCulloch on the ad led to multiple responses, with several people saying they plan to contact the ASA about the ad.

My 13 year old noticed this massive poster and was upset because she could see that this is so very wrong and bad taste, damaging for the children and community alike -using images of gypsy children to promote a tv programme. This is blatant racism aimed at those in the travelling community.

Can some one tell me what is so offensive about these posters? I've seen a lot more offensive ones for Sofas & the like.

apparently the ASA don't think its racist either as of today's outcome, isn't the law-breaking, violence etc shown by the folk in the programme not more damaging to their children than non-traveller folk jumping on the do-gooder band wagon
