Twentieth Century Fox pull Neighbourhood Watch trailer over shooting fears

Twentieth Century Fox have decided to pull a trailer for upcoming Ben Stiller vehicle, Neighbourhood Watch, over sensitivities surrounding the recent real life shooting of a teenager by a neighbourhood watch volunteer.

In the trailer Stiller’s fellow cast member Jonah Hill can be seen leaning out the back window of a vehicle making a gun gesture at passing residents, stoking concerns over potential parallels with the real life incident.

Commenting on their decision Fox said in a statement that the film had been shot before the incident took place and that any similarity is purely coincidental, nevertheless they have undertaken to phase out the promotional material.

In a statement Fox said: “The trailers and posters have been pulled from Florida theatres and will soon be phased out nationally".
