Married dating service Ashleymadison.com has launched a new advert starring London mayor Boris Johnson to promote its 'Affair Guarantee'.

The ad is running on a billboard in London's Camden High Street, though The Drum wonders how long it will be before it falls foul of the ASA.

It features Johnson's face alongside the copy: "Affairs now guaranteed! No matter what you like".

Ashleymadison CEO Noel Biderman said: "The mayor typifies what Ashleymadison.com is all about.  He represents the busy, well-off professionals that flock to our site every day."

The extra-marital dating site launched in the UK last year and claims to have attracted "nearly 400,000 members".

Wow. Probably the bravest bit of advertising I've seen for years. Legally, they are actually on pretty strong grounds.

(1) so long as they have paid the copyright owner of the photo - Boris has no legal image rights in the UK
(2) He could claim the advert is defamatory, but judging from the number of love-children he allegedly has around London, would most likely lose in court.

Interesting to see what happens with this one....

Typical cheap stunt from Ashley Madison. A Google search reveals that they specialize in this in the US. A Google search also reveals that according to countless thousands of dissatisfied customers Ashley Madison is a scam. If you must stray better going to a UK alternative like Undercover Lovers.

It was obviously created for instant publicity & a cost effective stunt and it worked. With the type of business do you think they were going to take the moral advertising ground, I think not!! Poor is the man who's pleasures depend on the permission of another!
