"Our product has got worse" claims Sir John Hegarty in rallying call to ad industry

"Our product has got worse" claims Sir John Hegarty in rallying call to ad industry

I could not agree more when it comes to TV ads. As a very infrequent TV viewer I am amazed by the state of the average TV ad every time I turn the box on. It feels like being shouted at by idiots.
Interesting things are happening in new technology, but none of it is game changing (aside from the technology).
The question is, is it budget, media and audience fragmentation or creativity which is to blame?

Radio boss: Commercial sector will gain nothing from 6 Music closure

Radio boss: Commercial sector will gain nothing from 6 Music closure

I couldn't agree more. 6 Music and the Asian Network are exactly the sort of thing the BBC should be doing. It would seem far more sensible to sell of Strictly and Eastenders to commercial broadcasters or cut Radio 1 & 2 budgets to make way for more commercial competition than to cut the service that serve small sections of the community.

The BBC does many things very well, but these tend to be the things that only the BBC does. The mainstream side of the BBC should face the cuts, not the niche.
