Out of interest, on the day following the news of Mr McLellan's iminent departure from The Scotsman, I did an audit on newspaper coverage.
According to my scan (which I will not claim was absolutely exhaustive), the only newspapers which gave it coverage were The Times ( all of page 3 with a comment piece by The Drum's editor, Gordon Young), The Daily Telegraph , The Scotsman - four pars on page 3), The Herald ( buried on the back page), and The Guardian. And I saw nothing in Scotland on Sunday nor the Sunday Herald.
BBC Scotland did cover it plus most of the online media websites.
I am not sure what conclusion one should draw from this but I certainly feel that it was a story which was was worthy of
at least a news nib in every daily newspaper circulating in Scotland on that day.
But then of course the affairs of Rangers FC is very demanding on staff resources and space!
