I thought this was a really excellent article and helped me a lot to appreciate the dreadful decline of the print media in Scotland. At one time Scottish readers had the highest newspaper readership per capita in the UK - often buying 2 -3 papers a day. I believe it is a 'sunset' industry but the rate of decline could have been slowed had the price/quality quotient been right - The Herald is my classic example of this.
A very good article and a timely reminder of the past. The video clip helps to show what has been lost over the years. I'm still waiting for someone to give a rational explanation of the BBC's disproportion spending on a per capita basis for Scotland vs the rest of the UK e.g. BBC Alba et al - I've watched BBC Alba and don't speak gaelic - but it is surprisingly good. But maybe I'm missing something.
Will they be broadcasting live from a hotel room like the last time? Better get a suite and a big TV this time so all the pundits can have a proper look.
