Media Square cites 'unlawful conspiracy’ by Porta Communications CEO as factor for £1.4m pre-tax loss

Media Square cites 'unlawful conspiracy’ by Porta Communications CEO as factor for £1.4m pre-tax loss

Whilst it is technically true that Media Square made a loss to the tune of that reported, I think it would have been fairer if the Drum had reported that the group made a trading profit in the 6 months period of over £700,000. Nobody who works here denies we have had a rocky past, however the current plc management - who I hasten to add didn't preside over the debacle that led to the current situation - have steadied the ship and about turned the situation from horrendous trading losses to modest profits in very difficult market conditions. Anyone who reads the statement to the stock exchange will see that the losses are caused by a combination of high historic debt and provisions made to fix past problems. And of course the Porta issue hasnt made things any easier. The way it was reported masks the fact that regional Media Square agencies like IAS, SMARTS Belfast ,TwentySix Leeds and the Gate in Edinburgh are doing very well both in terms of market standing and profitability. Come on guys - give us a break. We are doing a good job for our clients, doing our best for the shareholders and trying to make a good living for our staff. The last thing we need is negative reporting that doesnt tell the whole story.

Glasgow 2014 seeks head of marketing

I hope Phil Anderton has applied. I only ever met him briefly but I thought he was the real deal and when he and George Burley were at Hearts, I really did think and hope that they would emulate my beloved Dons in the 80's and break the Old Firm stranglehold for a while. Whoever does get the job will have their work cut out after the debacle in India, which could well spell the beginning of the end for the Games. I've never liked the concept of the Commonweath Games anyway, coming as they did from the Old Empire Games. But I do love following the Scottish team and will never forget our double triumph in the 5000 and 10000 metres in Edinburgh in 1970.

England 1 Scotland 3 - exclusive industry match report

I admit to clearing the ball off the line and saving the equalizer. Who wouldn't? However, I take umbridge at the 'backpass' comment. It was a deflection! And the truth was, although I hate to admit it, we wuz hammered 1-3!

I gave the the IAS creatives a segmented brief. Target the English audience with one and the rest of the world with the other. My theory was that English footie fans, players and managers tend to be less educated than say Scots, French or Italians, evidenced starkly by current English Premiership management trends. Hence half full/half empty targets the English, Nostradamus the rest of us. Nostradamus is clearly the best idea with the most engaging content, but will never win due to the amount of English voters. However I'm surprised our other one isn't romping it, but even it is maybe too clever. I think the amount of votes for the Lion proves my point, although, I'm heartened by the fact lots of people also hate it. Fresh for me as I wouldn't be so crass as to vote for myself.

IAS Introduce Strict Alcohol Policy for Staff

IAS Introduce Strict Alcohol Policy for Staff

Too many closet bloggers protesting too much I reckon. Makes me speculate there's a few anonymous alcaholics with raw nerves out there among the nameless and humourless. Monty at least declared himself this time instead of masquerading as a sci-fi character. And Victor once again re-affirmed he comes from another planet. But hey guys your personal sideswipes are a bit heavy or should I say bitter. Why does everybody think it was a press release. It wasn't. Athough when asked I didn't mind going public, unlike most of you spineless lot. How come so many of you reckon alcohol at work goes with good morale? My experience is that it more often hangs out with paranoia and regret. And whoever you are who's pretending to work for IAS, you're a jerk.
